Meersbrook Walled Garden
The Walled Garden is a hidden treasure based in the corner of Meersbrook Park. The chances are you've walked right past and not realised! Originally supplying food for the residents of Meersbrook House. Derelict for many years, the garden is being lovingly restored in partnership with Heeley City Farm workers into a functioning community garden and greenhouses. There are weekly volunteer gardening days and special events including Art days, Apple days, Annual garden party, herb days and solar tea party.

Tennis Courts
A plea has gone out to help raise cash to improve a popular Sheffield park
which has one of the city's oldest buildings. The tennis courts in
Meersbrook Park, site of the ancient Bishop's House, have fallen into
disrepair and need urgent work. The netting is falling down and one wall
suffers subsidence. A bid for cash to improve nets and fences was recently turned down and the
Meersbrook Park Users' Trust is appealing for help to replace the courts
with a multi-use games area.
The trust has raised about £26,000 in six months but needs £111,000 to create a floodlit all-weather football pitch, basketball courts, tennis courts and a netball court. The courts are home to an England-affiliated netball club which trains every Wednesday. They are used regularly for tennis, basketball and football.
Councillor Shaffaq Mohammed, cabinet member for the local environment, said a bid to Veolia Environmental Services for cash to improve netting, fencing and a wall was turned down but funding was identified to mend the wall. He said: "Sheffield Council has been working closely with the Meersbrook Park Users' Trust to identify additional funding to improve the tennis courts at Meersbrook Park."
The trust had raised enough cash to replace play area equipment, create a skate park and build a youth shelter but is finding it harder to get people to dig deep during the credit crunch.
